Miovision's portable, easily set-up camera installation is designed for temporary placement at intersections, roundabouts, highways and other road locations, for collection of video data for traffic studies. Quickly set up the Video Collection Unit at your desired location and start collecting data for your traffic studies immediately. A camera never looks away, never gets bored, doesn't need a bathroom break, and doesn't draw an hourly wage - it is the perfect traffic observer. The VCU features:
- Durable Construction: the unit has steel construction and custom engineered chassis and pole, as well as a weighted bottom and anti-theft features.
- Portable Size & Weight: the VCU can be transported in most cars and vans and deployed by one person. Set up takes about 15 minutes. The VCU has both a tripod system for deployment and a pole mounting system - use whichever makes sense for the particular location.
- Year-Round Weather Proofing: the unit is waterproof and can be operated in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.).
- Up to 72 Hours of Continuous Use: The VCU can be deployed for up to 72 hours with a single battery charge and memory card. Since the unit uses standard flash cards for memory, the total length of time for recording can easily be customized for your requirements.
Everything you need to accurately and easily collect traffic video
The VCU consists of an unobtrusive video camera, a telescoping pole on which the camera is mounted, a secure, stable base that holds the pole in place and provides security for the included electronics, a long-lasting SLA battery, and a small Digital Video Recorder (DVR) to capture the camera's feed digitally for later analysis. The only additional equipment required of you is a vehicle to drive the installation from spot to spot when needed.
Pole-Mounting Option
The VCU also comes with brackets that allow you to mount it on a telephone or signal pole, for locations that require additional security or less obtrusive placement. Simply detach the legs, connect the brackets, and then secure it at the base of the pole. Then, use a ladder to move it up the pole, out of reach from the ground.
Set it and forget it
Once the camera installation is set up and recording, it does not require the presence of a worker. It is stable and securely fastened to prevent theft or vandalism, and has a small profile to remain unobtrusive. For day-long studies, simply set it up, leave it to record, and return later to collect the equipment. One person, a vehicle, and a few mobile camera installations can conduct traffic studies that used to require a small army of personnel.
