Miovision Video Analytics uses patent-pending computer vision techniques to intelligently analyze vehicle movements and classifications in video. After you upload your traffic video to our secure server, the program automatically interprets it frame by frame, tracking all the movements according to the type of study being done (e.g. intersection, roundabout, etc.) as well as determining its classification.

Next-Generation Video Technology
The Miovision solution is different than many first-generation video-based systems because it tracks the whole vehicle, from entry point to exit point. Most existing video-based systems rely on user-selected "trigger spots" to tell them when a vehicle is present, a process which often turns into a pick-the-right-pixel-or-get-poor-results kind of game. And it takes significant configuration time to figure out which spots would be the best "triggers". Ultimately first-generation systems like this aren't intelligent enough to be a comprehensive solution for traffic counting, and especially can't be used for more complicated studies like roundabouts.
Our intelligent tracking allows us to identify and classify vehicles as unique objects from when they enter the frame until they exit the frame - the entire path of the vehicle is identified, analyzed and stored with no pixel or "trigger spot" selections and very little configuration.
Better than Human
Video Analytics has an accuracy rate higher than manual data collectors due to the lack of human error. Human collectors become fatigued, bored, and must pause for certain activities (e.g. washroom breaks, meals, etc). Additionally, a human data collector only has a few seconds to correctly identify a vehicle movement - often not enough time for large, busy intersections or roundabouts. Video Analytics looks at the video frame by frame, so it never gets overwhelmed by traffic volume or other external distractions. In fact, busy intersections and roundabouts that normally would require 2 or 4 collectors to study only require one video feed and the Video Analytics software.
Verifiable Results
Skeptical that software can do better than a pair of human eyes? Since you'll have the video yourself, you can always compare the accuracy of Video Analytics to a manual count done on the same video. In fact, the idea that Video Analytics returns verifiable results is important; traffic data is used to make high-priced, high-impact decisions, but how sure are you about the quality of your traffic data? With Video Analytics you can verify the accuracy of your data and be more confident in your results. And when you have more confidence in the accuracy of your data, it means you can make better decisions and ultimately get better "bang-for-your-buck" from your data collection efforts.
Online Accessibility
Because Video Analytics is online, users never have to worry about updating a desktop program or using a specific computer to analyze their video. Any Internet-enabled computer can be used to upload the video to our servers. Once uploaded, our servers run the video through the analytics algorithms to get accurate and reliable data, sending the results back to the user (and other specified recipients). Your data is securely transmitted and processed - it always remains your property.
Integrated with the Miovision suite of products
Miovision Video Analytics is designed to work closely with a Miovision Video Collection Unit and the Miovision Data Management & Reporting software, automatically interfacing with both systems to completely eliminate the need for any manual counting or data entry. With the full Miovision suite, each step of the process is linked together, from the collection of the video to the interpretation of it to the storage of the findings. It's all in one place, securely online and at your fingertips whenever you need it.
