:: The "road-tube of the turning movement count world" Designed for use with Miovision's Video Analysis Software, the VCU represents the next-generation of traffic data collection tools. The VCU is a portable camera system for capturing video of a roadway. Once the video is collected, you then run it through the software to fully automate traffic counts like turning movements or roundabouts. The VCU records the video and the software pulls the count and classification data from the video. To understand how the VCU fits into our Automated Turning Movement Count system, take the quick Tour or Attend a Webinar.
The VCU comes in two parts - the control box and then frame. The control box houses the digital video recorder, the schedular, batteries, heater, and LCD screen. The frame is the mounting bracket to which you attach the control box. There are two types of frames: the tripod frame and the pole-mount frame. The tripod frame allows you to deploy the VCU at any location near the roadside, while the pole-mount frame allows you to mount the system on existing poles at the intersections (signal poles, sign poles, streelight poles, etc). We recommend 1 control box and one of each pole: a pole-mount for signalized intersections, and a tripod for intersections that don't have a convenient pole. Use our Build Your System tool to play with different configurations. Each VCU comes with:
